Boshan Glass is a time-honored Chinese traditional glass craft originating in Boshan, Shandong Province, renowned as the hometown of Chinese glass with a heritage stretching over a thousand years. Natural mineral ores including malachite, cobalt ore, manganese ore and iron ore are calcined thoroughly to produce mineral colorants. Raw materials are melted at 1200℃ into fluid glass. Craftsmen rely on skilled handwork to carry out dipping, blowing, shaping and the classic cased glass overlay technique. Finished works undergo three days of gradual slow cooling to prevent cracking and stabilize color texture. Combining high-temperature smelting and flexible hand-blown craftsmanship, Boshan glass boasts rich, saturated natural mineral colors and varied forms.
