it may be true that a lot of people do fake their accents, but this doesn’t apply to the minority that don’t who grew up in a social circle where having an accent was a norm; that’s the annoying part bcs then they act like it’s fake when in reality you’ve sounded that way since u were a kid

You don't have to be born in England to have an English accent. If someone spends years around British speakers, studies there, or simply learns to speak that way, they can naturally develop a British accent. That doesn't automatically mean they're "faking" it.English isn't owned by England or America. There are English speakers all over the world, and Nigerian English, Pakistani English, Indian English, Australian English.
