Can you give examples of what the first phase typically would look like? And a tangible transition into fat loss? I feel like I’m in that first phase currently while simultaneously trying to build better habits (aiming for certain step count, more water, being intentional about protein and balancing whole foods). Initially when tracking I recognized I wasn’t counting things like cooking oil, eating my kids left over snacks, a couple chips here and there, coffee creamer, etc. when I started tracking those things, I got the big picture on how much I was actually consuming. Then I figured out my maintenance with TDEE, set myself up with a 300 calorie deficit, and now I’m in this 3 week period where I’m eating in that deficit, drinking enough water, building meals around protein, fiber, carbs, and hitting my step goal. I don’t necessarily have a target weight in mind at this point. I’m just collecting data right now by weighing myself every morning and taking my average weight over 7 days. I keep telling myself at the end of this three weeks I’m not hoping to be down a certain amount of pounds, this is kidna just going to tell me am I in a true deficit or have I found my true maintenance and now I can lower my calorie goals for the day and enter fat loss?
