@rtenews: Drone footage shows several houses that were gutted after a major grass fire in Stourbridge in England. The West Midlands Fire Service said the huge blaze forced some people to flee as it teared through homes. Firefighters are continuing to tackle blazes in the area as the UK experiences another period of very high temperatures. Link in bio to read more 📲 #uk #heatwave #fire
Wouldn't put it past our current government to fine him for admitting to using his hosepipe.

Based on the size of those houses I wouldn’t worry too much. Pretty sure they’ll have good insurance.

I wonder if the insurance cover the damage or is it an “act of god”

This could be a stupid question, but if we were able to use hose pipes….could our trees and garden be harder to burn through ? If not a deterrent it could possibly take longer to burn ?

As someone who’s experienced a house fire where my family lost everything, the trauma of losing everything, the upheaval, the claim on insurance, having to find somewhere to live, having no belongings & starting over is so traumatising. The impact is deeper than anyone realises. I hope these people receive support. I live in the West Midlands & the heat was unbearable.

I live about a mile away, its a very wealthy area, which makes it no less sad. I think the fire spread along the railway embankment, which has a lot of vegetation. There have been many fires in the vicinity, but its unclear how they started. Everywhere is tinder dry, it was 37c yesterday and has rained nothing but the odd light sprinkle since April. The Fire Service were unprepared and most likely underfunded. But, nothing like this has happened in the UK in living memory. Perhaps someone could explain to me how do you plan for that?
