@c5news: Ace work from the K9. Ace the police dog has been given a hero’s sendoff after losing his leg as a result of a shooting that helped save the lives of his handler and other officers. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office boss Grady Judd said the K9 and his handler, Natalie, “stood in the gap between good and evil and they saved the lives of three deputies. That’s why we are so proud of them.” Sheriff Gudd said the force is, “so proud of him. He did so good.” He added that “prayers had been answered because Ace is alive”, having survived the shooting. Officers had responded to an incident on 6 August where suspect, Angel Bowes, is alleged to have shot Ace and at his handler and other deputies. Sheriff Gudd, in a video posted on the force’s Facebook page, wished the dog a happy retirement: “Chill and enjoy your retirement, Ace.”
