Al-Douri remained a key figure in the Ba'ath Party until his death in 2020 بالعربي.. في قمة جامعة الدول العربية (1990) نائب الرئيس العراقي عزت إبراهيم الدوري يواجه الوفد الكويتي يوثق هذا المقطع لحظة متوترة خلال قمة جامعة الدول العربية الاستثنائية التي عُقدت في القاهرة في أغسطس 1990، بعد فترة وجيزة من غزو العراق للكويت. وألقى عزت إبراهيم الدوري، نائب الرئيس العراقي آنذاك، خطاباً حاداً ومواجهاً للوفد الكويتي، متهماً الكويت بتهديد الأمن القومي العراقي من خلال الإفراط في إنتاج النفط والنزاعات الحدودية. عكست المواجهة الموقف الدبلوماسي العراقي العدائي عقب غزوه للكويت في 2 أغسطس/آب 1990. وقد أدت مناشدات الكويت للتدخل العربي والدولي إلى تصعيد التوترات، ما دفع العراق إلى رفض الانسحاب ونشر تحالف بقيادة الولايات المتحدة. وشكّلت القمة لحظة حاسمة اضطرت فيها الدول الأعضاء في جامعة الدول العربية إلى اختيار أحد الجانبين قبيل حرب الخليج. وظل الدوري شخصية محورية في حزب البعث حتى وفاته عام 2020.
