He was an idolised professional wrestler, and I wonder why the narrative from a lot of people about him ‘not being himself due to mental changes’ is so different to the discourse around Lindsay Clancy - is it because she is a mother? We know post partum can seriously change someones behaviour and mental state.. For context, Lindsay Clancy is currently standing trial and her case is going viral due to the shocking nature and the fact that her trial is being live streamed. Lindsay and her husband Patrick Clancy had 3 children: Cora, Dawson, and Callan. But after giving birth to Callan 8 months prior, Lindsay had started struggling. She had reached out to psychiatrists for help and taken medication to try and help her symptoms. She had even voluntarily admitted herself to a local psychiatric hospital. But she was arrested in January 2023 and charged with a serious crime. She is now standing trial and her husband Patrick Clancy has been testifying in court. Lindsay Clancy’s trial is to determine whether or not she is guilty of the crime and if so, is she criminally responsible? The prosecution are arguing that she planned this intentionally, and I find it interesting how quick people are to dismiss Chris Benoit’s crime due to CTE but seem hesitant to take post partum depression or psychosis as reason as to why Lindsay may have committed this crime..
