The afterparty was great and music was threading thru the room. Somewhere behind them, a DJ was playing a remix of the film’s theme song, publicists were pretending not to panic, and a row of cameras had been set up in the corner for the last round of interviews. Lena stood near the bar in a black suit, looking like she had been carved out of trouble. Miu, in a silver dress that caught every light in the room, was seated under the interview lamps with a smile that looked calm to everyone except Lena. Because Lena knew that smile. It meant Miu was trying very hard not to look at her. Which was adorable. And dangerous. No one in the room knew that the two of them had spent the last six months sneaking kisses between takes, sharing hotel rooms under fake excuses, and falling in love somewhere between a stunt rehearsal and a midnight script read-through. To everyone else, they were just actresses promoting their new film. Co-stars. Friends. A very photogenic pair with excellent chemistry. To Lena, Miu was the reason she had forgotten how to breathe normally. To Miu, Lena was the reason every scene kiss felt like a lie. The interviewer leaned forward with a grin. “Fans have been obsessed with your chemistry with your co-worker, Jace Vale. They keep shipping you two online. What do you think about that?” Miu’s smile stayed in place. Lena’s did not. Across the room, Lena’s fingers tightened around the stem of her glass. The interviewer kept going, oblivious. “There are edits, fan accounts, the whole thing. People are convinced you two are secretly dating. Any comment?” Miu glanced up for half a second. Straight at Lena. And then she looked away again. She didn’t answer. Not a denial. Not a joke. Not even a polite laugh. Just silence. Lena set her drink down with a soft, dangerous click and turned away before anyone could notice the way her jaw had gone tight. Miu saw her leave. Her stomach dropped immediately. The interview wrapped up a few minutes later, but Miu barely heard the rest of the questions. She smiled when she was supposed to smile, laughed when the host made a joke, and signed the last autograph with fingers that felt too cold. The second the cameras shut off, she was moving. She slipped through the crowd, past publicists and assistants and people pretending not to stare, until she found the quiet hallway behind the ballroom. The lights were dimmer there. The music was muffled. And at the far end, by the emergency exit, Lena stood with her arms folded and her expression carefully blank. Carefully. Miu knew better. “Are you seriously sulking?” she asked softly as she approached. Lena didn’t look at her. “I’m not sulking.” “You left.” “I needed air.” “You left because I didn’t answer the ship question.” That finally got Lena’s attention. Her eyes flicked to Miu’s face, sharp and wounded and far too pretty for someone pretending not to care. “You could’ve said no.” Miu blinked. “That’s what this is about?” Lena laughed once, humorless and quiet. “What did you think it was about?” “I thought maybe you were tired.” “I was jealous.” The honesty in her voice made Miu’s chest go warm all at once. “Oh,” Miu said, and then, because she couldn’t help herself, “that’s cute.” Lena’s eyes narrowed. “Don’t.” “Don’t what?” “Don’t smile at me like that when you know exactly what you did.” ~~continuation in the comments ~~ #lenamiu #thaigl #fanfic #viral #miulena
