Yah, my grandparents left substantial equal amounts to their 5 kids. My dad died before my stepmom so she got my dad’s part when grandpa passed. Grandchildren, my brothers and sisters, got nothing. Stepmom sold all dad’s assets, we had to BUY the things we wanted to keep of dads from her, She kept and spent all the money. She recently died penniless. The house was in reverse mortgage and went to the bank. She hated us. Smh.

I don't feel entitled to my own parent's money, let alone my in-laws.

I wouldn’t think of anything of where my in-laws money would go if my spouse died….. it’s not my money…. It’s actually not your spouses money either

That sounds very normal for the grandkids to get the trust after the passing of a grand parent(s)

Kuddos to the in-Laws/Grandparents for planing and making the tough decisions before any of them pass. It is commendable that they want to pass an inheritance on to their grandchildren.

Why would she even be concerned? It’s all going to the kids eventually (or should be). The fact that she’s upset about getting bypassed is weird.

We bought a house for our daughter and it went into a trust. Divorce rate is over 50%. Protect assets

1. It’s their money and they can do with it as they please. 2. I would be grateful someone was thinking of my children’s future.

The entitlement is baffling . Sounds correct to me. It is their money and choice.

This is very much the norm. My grandmother passed away without a will my uncle passed away 2 months before she did. His portion of the estate went to his kids, not his wife.

If they leave the money to her she can decide to keep it for herself or worse have it end up in the hands of a man who will steal it from her children. A new spouse taking the children’s inheritance and passing it to their own offspring is a common scenario. The grandparents are doing the right thing.

Why would this person expect the in-laws money?! She should be grateful they are looking out for the kids. Sheesh.

Marital assets will still go to her, the question is her in-laws assets. They can do whatever they want. They want it to go to their grandchildren.

My MIL set up something similar and I had zero problems with it. Same reason as stated in the video. If she has concerns about her ability to financially look after her children should her husband pass, she needs to look into life insurance
