@cidney.mayes: Here’s what you need to know about starting a career as an author! Without the romanticism. #author #authortok #indieauthor #penulis #literasi
Hi! I’m always glad to connect with people who are passionate about creating and sharing their work.
How did you first get into writing, and what do you enjoy most about it?

Your first book probably wont hit it out of the park, but keep writing. I was 16 books in before I got the career maker. 🥰

I don't agree with everyday. When you have the time is better. Everyday gives pressure to people who don't have the time and make them feel like they'll never be good enough. I know from my illustration days. 😁

So true that it's romanticized cause damn I had no idea how intense the marketing aspect would be!

i’m just getting started, my main problem right now is that i have a ton of ideas and the general scope of the story, i just don’t know how to get it all down into something that makes sense. it’s all fragmented at the moment. any advise is welcome.

Started wrapping up writing journey this year after I was laid off, so it kind of forced me to spend time working on it. Here are some things that worked for me as a first time book writer: limit your distractions by bringing snacks/water etc and find the place that works best for you (library, coffee shop, home office, park, etc). I prefer writing in my office or a coffee shop. I also use noise cancelling headphones so I can’t get distracted by what’s happening around me. Use your calendar and notes to add checklists about chapters or the amount of time you want to work on the book daily. I committed at least 2 hours a day and within 2 months I wrote over 70k words 🥰

Self publishing is a job/business, you take on everything a publisher would and pay for services you need or spend more time figuring out how to do the things professionals get paid to do! Take in all the facts of self publishing versus traditional publishing and choose what you want out of your career/stories. There is no one right way if you have the right mindset/time/intentions, but there are wrong ways with the wrong intent/attitude.

Hey! 👋 I came across your page and saw that you're a writer. I love discovering new authors and hearing about the stories they're creating.
Are you currently working on a book, or do you have something already finished and ready to share with readers? 📖✨
