Sugar slows the chemical reactions responsible for concrete getting hard. It can make the concrete easier to work with for longer. But i wouldn't use pop. You can ask the batch plant to add up to 2 hour prolong into the mix for you. It's way better im sure.

It’s so the top layer will crumble faster cause they weren’t quick enough to the do the job good so your driveway looks like shit in a year and they’ll blame it on putting salt on it in the winter.
