It doesn’t work like that. If the shop decided to do additional work on their own without consulting or contacting the owner of that vehicle, the shop eats the bill for the additional cost. The agreed upon amount is the contract, $800.00. The shop has to eat the bill for the $3,400.00. End of story.

Shop eats the bill. Had this happen at a Harley dealership once. Had my bike in for a weird thumping from the front tire- They didn’t call me to confirm work after I specifically asked them to call me if it would cost anything outside of warranty. Ended up with a free tire.

first of all who gave you permission to do the extra work and if you did it wasn't authorized that's on the dealer or on the shop not the customer you have to eat it not the customer the shop does
