Ahmed Faraz was one of the greatest Urdu poets of the modern era, born on January 12, 1931, in Kohat, Pakistan. His real name was Syed Ahmed Shah. From a very young age he had a deep love for poetry and literature, and he started writing at the age of 9. He completed his Master’s in Urdu and Persian from Peshawar University and later served as a lecturer, and eventually became the Director General of the Pakistan National Council of Arts. Faraz was not just a poet, he was a voice of resistance, love, and revolution. His poetry spoke about freedom, human rights, love, and the pain of separation in a way that touched millions of hearts. During military regimes in Pakistan he was jailed several times because he used his words to speak truth to power. Instead of breaking him, jail made his poetry even stronger. He was exiled for years and lived in London, Canada and Europe, but his love for his homeland never faded. Some of his most famous poetry collections are Tanhai, Dard-e-Ashob, Shab Khoon, Khwab-e-Gul, and Janan Janan. His ghazals like "Ranjish Hi Sahi", "Ab Ke Bijan Pe Chalay" and "Suna Hai" became immortal and were sung by legends like Mehdi Hassan, Ghulam Ali and Jagjit Singh. Faraz had the rare ability to make complex emotions sound simple. He wrote about love with such depth that every heartbroken person felt he was writing for them, and he wrote about injustice with such fire that every oppressed person felt he was their voice. He received many national and international awards including Hilal-e-Imtiaz, Sitara-e-Imtiaz, and was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature. Ahmed Faraz passed away on August 25, 2008 in Islamabad, but his words are still alive in every Urdu speaking heart. Even today when someone feels pain in love or anger against injustice, they turn to Faraz. He proved that poetry is not just words, it is courage, it is resistance, it is love. #AhmedFaraz #UrduPoetry #UrduShayari Ghazal #PoetryLovers #yktaimoor UrduLiterature UrduQuotes Legend Pakistan Motivation LovePoetry RevolutionaryPoet RanjishHiSahi UrduAdab
