my inlaws told me and my husband that they were not babysitters when they found out I was pregnant with our first. they have only taken the kids by themselves a handful of times and only for a couple of hours. my kids are grown now so it doesn't matter anymore. my mom moved out of state when my kids were little so she definitely didn't watch them. I can guarantee that if I get to be a grandma I will be with my grandbabies as much as their mom and dad want me to be.

And when I asked my in laws to watch my 4yo for a couple hours so I could get some uninterrupted work done, the response was “why?” 🫠

Both my parents and in laws would have responded this way…so much so that my son is planning my retirement around me helping him with his kids.
