I just dont think moral policing, labeling, and having no empathy for innocent ignorance is going to get us anywhere. If there is a widespread literacy crisis does that not imply that it is not an individual's fault solely but instead a systemic problem they are impacted by? Why then are we casting moral judgements that halt meaningful dialogue that could produce better understanding. "Its not my job to educate you" but if you have the opportunity to do good, isnt it your moral obligation to do so? And isnt engaging in these conversations with good faith, knowing the person saying and sharing hateful beliefs is not going to seek out education on their own, the moral obligation if you want to do good and contribute to the progress of your causes?? At what point does the way we are calling people TERFs, biphobic, dumb, conservative, MAGA, etc become equal but opposite to how Christians/Evangelicals call us demonic, especially when it is used to automatically discredit someone's thoughts and opinions and halt any form of meaningful dialogue? And before you say "but we are right and xyz proves it" consider that the Christians/Evangelicals feel and think the same exact way about the people they call demonic. It is the same pattern of behavior just dressed in drag rather than Sundays best. And if we aren't trying out best, with good faith, and empathy to bring people into our community then what exactly are we trying to accomplish other than assuaging our egos with the belief we are morally superior, smarter, and better than them? Are the feelings of moral and intellectual supremacy truly worth sowing further division?
