Procurement: “Our preferred supplier doesn’t have stock, so it’s going to be 3-4 weeks for this urgent part. Nothing we can do.” Us: “What about X company down the street? They have one in stock.” Procurement: “No, that’s going to cost slightly more. We’re not doing that.” In the meantime… we’re spending tons of money on workarounds, extra maintenance, and random parts trying to hold things together and making everyone’s lives miserable.

Without procurement the business will sign us up to multi year deals with no price caps at renewal and unlimited liability if things go wrong and agree to data sharing of personal data for model training for LLMs..
