maladative daydreamer here. its the only thing that keeps me alive. I imagine a world where I'm with my favourite characters, and in that world I'm important. Valued. seen. _loved_.
I can't let go of it. it's the only version of myself that's happy.

i would pace around for hours (like 4-6 hours every single day) just daydreaming to music. it made me so avoidant of any responsibilities, sleep, basic hygiene. i would only get things done so i could go back to pacing a daydreaming. as a little fat brown girl it was the only way i could see a future, let alone a pleasant one, for myself. today at 28 none of those things have happened (simple milestones like dates, having best friends to have a birthday party with, someone having a crush on me, etc) and im so jealous of younger me’s ability to hope, even if it controlled my entire life

The more I accept myself the less I can daydream. It’s crazy. I try it sometimes because it was soothing, but it’s like I lost the ability. It’s weird

maladaptive daydreaming is the only reason I'm still alive. It gave me hope

I maladaptively daydreamed throughout my teens and now I’m a fantasy author. I know there’s a correlation.

I have reached an age where no fantasy can make me feel content anymore, yet letting them go completely seems like I would be even more lonely. When reality sucks, what else can you do?

This is wild. Even in college, I used to put my headphones on and dance in my room literally daydreaming of another experience. I got out of the maladaptive fantasy a few years ago thankfully but wow. This brought me back!
