@i.a.n.network: Tunnel collapse at India hydropower project kills seven workers. At least seven workers have died after a tunnel under construction at a hydropower project in northern India’s Uttarakhand state collapsed overnight, officials said Friday. The incident occurred Thursday night at the Vishnugad-Pipalkoti hydroelectric project in Chamoli district after a sudden rush of water and debris entered the tunnel. Officials said 22 workers were inside at the time. Twelve have been rescued alive, while three others remain missing. Rescue teams from the National and State Disaster Response Forces, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police and fire services are working to reach the missing workers as water and debris continue to hamper the operation. National Disaster Response Force team commander Amrit Lal Meena said rescuers encountered significant amounts of water inside the tunnel, with water also seeping in from the sides and the level rising considerably. Construction accidents are common in India, particularly in the Himalayan region, where fragile geology, seismic activity and unpredictable underground conditions pose significant risks to major infrastructure projects. The disaster comes less than three years after another tunnel collapse in Uttarakhand trapped 41 workers underground for 17 days before they were rescued. #Travel #Caribbean #trendingnow #fashionable #Tragedy #followus #LikeAndShare #fypシ゚ #TheIanAlleyneShow #youtubechannel #Trinidad #trinidadandtobago #newstoday #Antigua #Barbuda #bahamas #Barbados #Guyana #Haiti #Jamaica #Montserrat #SaintKitts #Nevis #SaintLucia #SaintVincent #Grenada #Grenadines #Aruba #India #uttarakhand
