“I’m never going to Bali again.” Honestly, we get it. The traffic is worse than it was five years ago. The waste and water crisis is real. And overdevelopment has made recent flooding more severe. These aren’t small issues. But here’s what nobody is telling you: Overtourism in Bali is just concentrated in a few main areas - Ubud, Seminyak, Canggu, Uluwatu, Kuta. Bali is actually massive - it’s 8 times bigger than Singapore, and outside of those crowded areas, the rest of the island is still largely untouched. Saying “I’m never going to Bali again” doesn’t solve overtourism. Because if we travel the same way everywhere we go - sticking to the most famous neighbourhoods, the biggest resorts, the same handful of Instagram spots - you’re still going to be contributing to overtourism, just somewhere else in the world. So the question isn’t how to avoid tourism completely. It’s how to make sure our travels leave a place a little better than we found it. Here are 3 ways how to travel better in Bali: 🗺️ Don’t just visit the main hubs of Seminyak, Canggu, Ubud, Uluwatu, Kuta. Venture out! 🍃 Do things that actually support Bali’s way of life. 🚩 Do not support unethical experiences. Bali is still worth visiting, because of what still exists and the people protecting it.
