@whatsamortgage_: 🚨 WARNING TO CALIFORNIA HOMEOWNERS — especially if you’re on the California FAIR Plan. For the last several years, finding affordable homeowners insurance in California has been a nightmare. Major insurance companies pulled back or stopped writing new policies as wildfire losses, rebuilding costs, and California’s insurance regulations made it harder for insurers to price the risk. That forced hundreds of thousands of homeowners onto the California FAIR Plan — the state’s insurance option of last resort. Now another change is coming. 📅 Starting October 15, 2026, FAIR Plan residential rates are scheduled to increase an average of 29.1% — and depending on the property and risk, some homeowners could see much larger increases. So if you’re currently on the FAIR Plan, NOW is the time to start shopping before your next renewal. The good news? Private insurers are beginning to expand in California again. Three companies worth getting quotes from: 🏠 Travelers 🏠 AAA 🏠 Mercury And if those companies won’t insure your property because of its location or wildfire risk, you can also ask an independent insurance broker about Bamboo and other available carriers. ⚠️ Don’t automatically assume you’re stuck with the FAIR Plan. Get multiple quotes and compare the coverage AND premium before making a move. I’ll be covering this and other California housing changes in my weekly Info411 newsletter. 🔁 SHARE THIS with a California homeowner who needs to know. AAA for the win. we pay $1,600 a year. when we bought our home our lender and agent were both shocked. they offered twice as much coverage at half the cost than anyone we got quotes from

What if you’re on fair plan because of fire zone? And it’s attached to your escrow account?

What private companies would cover high fire areas? That’s why we’re in this predicament in the first place and forced to use CFP
