Beyoncé “Sweet Dream” (Acoustic Version) Live at I Am... Yours: An Intimate Performance At Wynn Las Vegas 2009 Same residency. Same Encore stage. But this time Bey is sitting you down🐝 She takes “Sweet Dreams” her electropop banger from I Am… Sasha Fierce, the one that was originally titled “Beautiful Nightmare” and strips the whole thing acoustic. The production was the whole disguise. Jim Jonsin, the man who built Lil Wayne’s “Lollipop” who teamed up with Rico Love, one of the architects of late 2000s R&B, and they handed Bey 808 drums and synth atmosphere coded straight for the club. So the world heard Sweet Dreams the way Sasha Fierce wanted us to hear it. Then the Wynn happened and she stripped it down the way she wanted us to feel it 🐝 Bey strips the production all the way off and what’s underneath is the woman who wrote those words. The 808s become an acoustic pulse. The synths become an orchestra holding its breath. Her voice carries the whole song with nowhere to hide. And Sweet Dreams stops being a club record and becomes a confession. A grown woman lying in the dark with her thoughts. During the Wynn residency, she famously walked “Sweet Dreams” through “Dangerously in Love” and landed in Anita Baker’s 1986 classic R&B ballad, “Sweet Love.” That run tells you everything about what Bey was building that night. #beyonce #sweetdreams #beyhive #wynnlasvegas #2009 @Beyoncé
