Hoop dreams was shown in my social studies class, and it really put into perspective how much your environment effects you as you grow up. The camera was always filming, showing what the boys experienced growing up, and where they eventually ended up

For anyone who hasn't seen Dear Zachary, please watch it. It's an incredible documentary. Unfortunately, it will absolutely break your heart

Gotta give a shout out to 'Bowling For Columbine'. Pushing Wal Mart to a complete policy change was really something.

Tell Me Who I Am is an absolutely devastating documentary about one man protecting his brother after a motorcycle accident gives him memory loss from the horrors of their childhood. Last I checked it’s on Netflix. Trigger warning though as it explore heavy themes of sexual assault

Dear Zachary was difficult. I couldn’t finish the trials of Gabriel Fernandez. I just couldn’t do it. But I also enjoyed that’s not the correct word… Something’s wrong with aunt Diane…

I Am Not Your Negro, about James Baldwin’s perspectives on the Civil Rights Movement, and Into the Void, about the near death of two mountaineers in the Peruvian Andes, both spring to mind. There are many others that haven’t at this moment 😂

Idk if someone commented it already, but “Woodstock” from 1970 is a good watch too. A cool snapshot in time

I think about Dear Zachary a lot. Andrew’s parents are the best of us. A superb doc up there with The Keepers and The Staircase (Goat)

FAIR WARNING: ⛔️DEAR ZACHARY WILL BREAK YOU. I am not exaggerating: While watching, I didn’t make a sound, not a comment, nothing. When the credits started, I balled for 15 mins nonstop. You’ve been warned.

13th - Netflix. Woke me up to the education prison pipeline and criminalization of communities that were being profited off of.

I first watched Paris is Burning like 15 years ago. I thought it was sad. I saw it again recently and it's more relevant now than it was when I first watched it. A lot of Ballroom culture has made it into mainstream media and speech patterns, so if you want to understand where Gen Z gets the slang from, watch Paris is Burning!
