@xixworkshop: How much can you actually learn by just figuring things out as you go? Looking back at this workshop now, it’s pretty mad to think about how far it’s come. From an empty patch of ground to building the structure, insulating it, cladding it, wiring it, lining it out and slowly turning it into the workshop I had pictured in my head. But the biggest thing I’ve taken from the whole process isn’t necessarily what I’ve built — it’s what I’ve learnt along the way. A lot of it was figuring things out as I went. Making mistakes, changing plans, learning new skills and, quite a few times, completely changing my mind about how I wanted something to look or work. And I think that’s probably one of the best things about building something yourself. You don’t have to have every answer before you start. Now I’m at the point where the workshop is actually finished… and I’m already thinking about what’s next 😂 There’s still so much I want to build, improve and experiment with in here.
