I did a solo trip to Kyushu once and went to a wrong port by accident, thought I was getting stuck there since I missed the last bus but me and my n4 japanese made friends with a local obāsan who got her daughter to drive me 20 minutes to the correct port and even gave me sweets for the way there 😭

Some Japanese guy asked me something while I was climbing up the stairs of Mt. Nokogiri. I was completely out of breath so I quickly answered "I dont speak Japanese" which most definitely came across as rude. Dude immediately went "O-oh...sorry" and turned around and walked away. Made me feel like a dick lol.
