we are the most diverse from our skin tone to hair type so i can understand the confusion but there’s definitely this underlying motive of assuming south asian people do not associate with those features, it’s weird that it’s always a surprise with a shock reaction when you tell them you’re south asian

But I feel like it also depends on which specific country (since the middle east isn't an actual geographical area) they think you're from. At times people from west asian countries do have some physical similarities to south asians

i was preyedddd on by a balkan woman because she thought i was arab, any time my actual ethnicity was called into question she’d shut it down asap, and it shut down twice as fast once i realised this was purely a “fantasy” of hers
