You can be disappointed. You can question their decision. You can even criticize them for going to a Chris Brown concert. But calling Namjoon and Hobi abusers, misogynists, or acting like they suddenly became terrible people because of one concert is taking it way too far. And honestly, have we forgotten who we’re talking about? Kim Namjoon and J-Hope. Two people who have been there for us, who have given us comfort, love and strength for years. Two people who stood by us when so many others didn’t. You don’t have to blindly defend everything they do, but reducing them to one moment and attacking their entire character is unfair. What also feels incredibly frustrating is seeing people put more energy into attacking BTS than actually discussing the person whose actions caused the controversy in the first place. Chris Brown’s history is serious, and people are absolutely allowed to criticize him. But being present at his concert does not automatically mean Namjoon and Hobi endorse everything he has ever done. Maybe they knew. Maybe they didn’t. We simply don’t know what they were thinking or what they knew at that moment. And that’s exactly why we shouldn’t invent intentions and turn assumptions into facts. You can say, “I’m disappointed they went.” That’s valid. But calling them abusers and misogynists? Attacking them, insulting them, and acting like everything they’ve stood for means nothing now? That’s where it goes too far. Hold them accountable if you genuinely believe they made a bad decision, but don’t erase years of who they are because of one night. Criticism is one thing.
