From seeing the devastation that’s happened in our town of Stourbridge - this alert is needed. Please count yourself lucky you haven’t experienced a situation like we all did in our town last night. I live two roads away from the fire that engulfed 500 acres and 38 houses.

It’s unfortunately completely necessary. I work in insurance and this summer has been crazy for fire claims. Much higher than normal as every one thinks it won’t happen to them. Literally one stray spark from a fire pit, bbq etc and you could loose everything as well as your neighbours.

I think it’s absolutely necessary, these fires could start anywhere, at any time, by any one. Specifically the people who are still lighting fireworks or not putting bbqs out properly! So many people lost their homes in Stourbridge today because of these fires, which are most likely preventable if people know the dangers!! It’s devastating, so instead of moaning about an alert maybe we should be thinking of the people who have been hurt and have lost their homes today.

There have been a few fires around York recently, there was one in Huby the other day. The alert could have been earlier in the day or even the week, my 2.5 year old was petrified 😞
