99% of homeschooling situations are just parents trying in indoctrinate their kids with religion without exposing them to opposing views.

I don't think there's anything wrong with homeschooling when it's an educated parent that knows how to do it. The problem is, that's about .00001% of the population.

even if your parents are literal qualified teachers, school provides so much for a child's social and emotional learning that's impossible to replicate at home

I honestly believe homeschooling should be illegal. Not just discouraged. Not just difficult to get a permit to do, etc. No, it should be fully banned.

Maybe if u did it? I dunno, public schools are over crowded and under funded and there are tons of resources available for homeschoolers. We had a few homeschoolers that did their last few years in HS with my class and they were all straight A students cuz they learned the shit the school was teaching 11 and 12 graders back in 7th and 8th grade at home

As someone who was homeschooled by extremely religious parents and taught history from a Bible you are absolutely correct, homeschooling can work in different and better circumstances but growing up homeschooled does irreversible damage to your social skills and future relationships as well as having nothing in common with people my age

Homeschooling can be great. The universal problem with it is that it is nearly always done for religious reasons. So while the child learns to pass tests in biology and history they are taught that those answers are wrong.

Homeschooling is only a subject of debate in the U.S. because other cultures value education and inherently understand why it’s good to have a well educated populace. It’s a lot like how vaccines and climate change are also only debated in the U.S.

People missing the point. Homeschooling ruins your child socially. they will never be able to assimilate or relate to their own generation. 50/50 they might be book smart (depending on if you are any good) but theres almost no chance they ever have a normal early adulthood, because they are behind 10 years on socialization

It’s comical how someone giggles at this statement thinking public education is superior. Children are leaving those professional environments unable to read and write.

Homeschool kids generally test as good as if not higher than public schools. My 8 year old nephew can read and write better than most high school seniors.
