@travelingtoretirement: my opinions on coast FI 👉 If you want all the tools I use for early retirement they are linked in my bio! - I think this is the most important milestone to hit because of the amount of flexibility it grants you. - You can take chances, make a huge career pivot, go part time because you can “coast” to your target retirement # without investing another dollar. - Everyone’s coast FI # is going to look completely different depending on your spending, your retirement timeline and how early you start. - I hit my coast FI # a few years ago at around ~$281,000 invested. I continue to invest even though I’m coast FI because tbh I haven’t decided what I want to do with my life. I can’t take a long term travel break because of my dog and I love my current job I don’t feel the need to cut down yet. - for transparency, I am not taking my taxable brokerage into account here only my traditional retirement accounts mostly because i’m shy about sharing but when calculating your coast FI # you count ALL invested assets (401K, HSA, Roth IRA, taxable brokerage account). These numbers also do not include any of my husbands accounts :)

traditional 401k means u get taxed later right? is there a reason y u chose that instead of roth 401k?

The reality in this economy is that none of us will be able to comfortably retire unless you have at least $100+ million.
