my mom works at a decently fancy restaurant with the original owner and his 4 adult children. Whenever a person says "I know the owner" my mom says "which one?" if they specify the original owner by name my mom would ask "what's his real name?" And the last one she would say is "call them." when that happens they have to pay their own bill and are banned from all 3 locations and if caught they'd be charged for trespassing.

This reminds me of when I worked in my grandparents restaurant as a teen. My grandmother would often sit behind the register stand to keep me company. One time there was this very irate customer who was yelling at her that he knew Mr. (Restaurant name because they thought that was the family name) and he was going to get her fired. She yelled right back “Good, I’ve been doing this job too damn long anyways!” 😂 Good times.

I don’t argue like this when I ask someone to leave. If I’ve already asked, and they keep going and don’t leave, I just say, “Look I’m not going to repeat myself, I’m just going to get my phone, call the police and have them trespass you. Make your choice.” And then I follow through. Btw, I’m an overnight manager at McDonald’s

I sold my bar back in May and it was the best decision I've ever made! The audacity of people is what made me want to leave the business. As a woman, no one believed I was the owner and would say "you're probably the owners girlfriend". NOPE! OWNER!!! GTFO!!!

There is one major misconception when it comes to what the owner can and can’t do. The owner can refuse service to anyone so long as it’s not discriminatory. It doesn’t matter if the customer has paid for something or not.
