my Mum used to be really mad at me for being a lesbian, thought 'it was happening to her'- whereas it was my experience and she made it more difficult for me... we have reconciled before she died but there is this lingering sadness of all those lost years without her support when I needed it most.

My mum tried to welcome my now wife by doing a posh lunch (it was her way of trying to accept). I got married and didn't tell her. when she came to visit us, we hid our rings. She did say to my wife, when I was at the loo, I don't mind my daughter being with you but you've made it now that she won't have children. My relationship with my mum wasn't great. My mum died a few years later. I was with her when she died. I held her hand. She was my mum. Now, my wife and I have 2 kids. I'm sorry sue never got to meet them. It is what it is. x
