Okay this is funny! As of August 15, 11:35 AM EST I had not heard of that girl and your video just popped on my FYP and watched it all the way through ! And obviously had to check Ellie’s page out .. I watched the very first one and almost all of them, but never stayed on a video all the way.. tbh I as a 32 year old didn’t find anything amusing or engaging but I believe that there’s a lot of young teens on this app that may have found her relatable and watched her full videos and how she ended up blowing up?!? Still doesn’t make sense to me but I’m happy for her !!

The algorithm favors: cis, white, conventionally attractive, thin women. Yes, people can have a huge growth like hers at random but it won’t happen with the same amount of swiftness as she had it because of the racism and discrimination ingrained in the algorithm

While I do agree that being authentic is a huge factor in her success, her being a conventionally attractive, rich, white girl os also a huge factor in her blowing up. The poc creators (who are authentic) who have gone viral typically have something extraordinary to offer that a lot of other creators (especially white creators) don’t have (I.e. either being very intelligent/well educated, being super wealthy, and/or being very strong/athletic)
