For anyone who cannot comprehend this still, lawyer is a qualification, not a job. Doesn’t matter what you’re doing right now, if you have a valid license, you’re a lawyer. You don’t do 3-6 years of study plus insane hours prepping to pass the exams and then pass the background and ethics checks on top of spending so so so much money to just not have any qualification.

people are veryy weird about this, as if being actively and currently licensed to practice law doesn’t make you a lawyer, not to mention the 3 years of law school, recruits, articling, bar exams, being called, etc

if the lso bar exam materials consider that a “‘lawyer’ refers to a person licensed by the Law Society to practise law as a barrister or solicitor or provide legal services in Ontario” then imo as long as you’re still licensed, you’re still a lawyer regardless of whether or not you practice
