I was told by a french wine maker that a good Pinot Noir should be light & translucent enough to “read through”. Tilt the glass, hold it over a newspaper and see if you can read the text. Enjoy the wine. It looks delicious.

Wine cognoscenti will say that all red wines all benefit (brings out fruit and reduces the alcoholic taste) from being served at “cellar temperature” (which is in a range from 55-65 degrees)…some maybe at cooler end than others, as with Beaujolais and Pinot Noir…this is why it can be kind of maddening for some to pay a premium for red wine at a restaurant to have it served at room temp.
