@360.accounts: Was this really necessary? 🚨 So the UK Government has sent out a Severe Alert warning about the very high risk of wildfires. And before anyone jumps on me — of course wildfire prevention is important, and nobody should be doing anything that could start a fire in these conditions. But did this really require a national emergency alert landing on everyone’s phone? The message warns against disposable BBQs, firepits, garden incinerators and fireworks because even a small flame could develop into a serious wildfire. Fair enough. But these emergency alerts are designed to grab your attention — they’re loud, intrusive and deliberately make you think something serious is happening right now. So my question is: Was this an appropriate use of the emergency alert system, or are we at risk of overusing it? Because if people start receiving alerts for things they don’t consider emergencies, could they eventually stop paying attention when a genuinely life-threatening alert comes through?
