@museumofscience: Rainwater is not as clean as you think! 🌧️ Quinten Geldhof, also known as @Microhobbyist , put a drop of rainwater under the microscope to show what each drop carries. For a raindrop to form, it needs to condense around tiny particles in the atmosphere called condensation nuclei. As the droplet falls, it can pick up pollen, fungal spores, smoke particles, and more. If you’re ever tempted to drink rainwater, don’t forget to treat and filter it first! #Science #Microscope #Rain #Microscopy #Weather

I imagine we’re breathing this stuff into our lungs. Wouldn’t it be safe enough to drink? Just curious

can it be drinkable after it has rained cats and dogs for like 10-15 minutes, the air must be clean by then, everything you mentioned must have come down with early rain by then? right? or wrong?

How does that work then? I recently saw a video of a CEO of a data center in The Netherlands, who said that they use rain water to cool because that's more clear than tap water. 🤷🏻♂️Or might he just be saying that to put data centers in positive daylight?

Wouldn’t that be just the initial onset of rain though? Also, the degree or amount in which it falls? I’d have to guess that the amount of particulates in the sample collected at the start of rainfall and that start of a light rain, would be much higher than a rainfall collected at the end of a light or more heavy rainfall/storm.
