CA is definitely #1: state income tax goes up to 13.3%… LT cap gains is ONLY 13.3% (no brackets.) where I lived sales tax was 9.8% and prop tax was/is 1.49%. Doesn’t sound like much but avg home price is $3.4M. Meaning if you bought an avg house, your prop tax bill is $50,660 per year. That’s more than the avg single person’s salary in the US!
