I have a theory on that. My mom has been a special education teacher for over 50 years. She’s an amazing teacher. She was a speaker at an autism conference. She is the Yoda of IEPs. In all the years she has taught she just got teacher of the year last year. My theory is they very rarely pick teachers that aren’t Gen Ed. I think it’s ridiculous that school districts do that because some of the most amazing teachers are the specialized teachers.
