“Worrying about someone’s internal world is not having boundaries” This one is going on the fridge for quote of the day.

I think I’m stuck focusing on what is going on with them because I’m trying to figure out how to move forward the best

What? You don’t think that maybe obsessing over someone being a narcissist may stem from them being a narcissist and the abuse you felt from them? Jesus Christ.

I agree. The only thing that matters in this context is to what degree we neglect ourselves in obsessing over if someone is a narcissist.

My favorite insight from a creator on here is asking "what if what I'm feeling makes sense?"

I feel like the MOMENT I became a mother, this switch flipped in my brain. Where before I could rationalize bad adult behavior towards children (even when I was pregnant!) and then THE moment I became a mom, this unique, autonomous person became so clear to me. Wish it hadn’t taken all that, and I still have to unpack, but parenthood is so healing.

Ohh thiiisssss!!!! My therapist recently went through The Roles Played in Anger cards with me and it was so eye opening when it came to the Options. I picked self protection card- which is removing myself from abuse and the assertiveness card- which is boundaries. I’ve felt all 3 that you mentioned especially powerlessness but I realised that a lot of social media posts keep you in the cycle of analysing the abuser, getting angry and feeling powerless. Essentially neglecting ourselves

I love it when these kinds of videos come on my fyp where I’m being told what MY issues are and how to fix them instead of videos just “validating” my victim narrative, well said and thank you for giving me something to think about!

It’s amazing how I never experienced another toxic/abusive man again after I healed & re-parented myself!

This is really helpful. Learning a lot about narcissists and how to spot one honestly made me so much less connected to myself and more tolerant of so much horseshit

I think most people obsess over it when they are replaying things that happened and try to understand that the person had ulterior motives (that weren’t even conscious to the narc). It can take years to understand why you shouldn’t give someone the benefit of the doubt after narc abuse. People also look back on why they put up with certain behaviors or what came up that they suppressed in the moment. It’s all fine in contained spaces to think about.

I recently realised I'd been doing a subtler yet still elaborate version of this. the more I've drawn my attention back towards my OWN experience, the more these individuals have lost their 'hold' on me 🤯

There are certainly narcissists kicking about but not everyone you date is one of them and it’s really important to remember that

I’ll try and sit with us, I’m always open to seeing and learning new things but one thing I can’t stand is my moms sneakiness. Ive got better in setting boundaries but my siblings and other family members still come to me with her stories and think they have her permission to be intrusive and not respect me. It’s constantly trying to correct things and setting boundaries and reminding them, it’s exhausting
