@desidoc101: “Unvaccinated kids are healthier.” It’s a claim I see over and over again online. But being healthy and being protected against a specific infection are two very different things. A child can eat well, sleep well, exercise, rarely get sick, and have a perfectly healthy immune system. None of that means their immune system automatically knows how to recognize measles or other diseases. That’s where vaccines come in. Vaccines don’t replace natural immunity. They use your immune system’s natural ability to learn and remember so it can recognize a specific threat before encountering the real disease. And yes, vaccinated children can still get infections. No vaccine is 100% effective. But vaccination can significantly reduce the likelihood of infection and, importantly, the risk of serious complications. So when someone says, “My unvaccinated child never gets sick,” I’m glad that child is healthy. But the question isn’t only: Are they healthy today? It’s also: What happens when they’re exposed tomorrow? That’s what prevention is about. #Vaccines #Measles #Pediatrics #VaccinesSaveLives #Desidoc

Know what’s wild?… I know a mom who hasn’t vaccinated any of her kids, spent a few thousand getting faked records so her kids can attend school but I heard her saying she had to take her new puppy to get his vaccinations before she could take him to the park because she was worried about parvo. Make that shit make sense.

Not vaccinating your child should be seen as child neglect. Mind you 9 times out of 10 the parents were fully vaccinated as children.

And if you get measles, not only are there a wide variety of dangerous complications, it can also erase any immunity you had to other infections and you can catch them again

It’s not always about just YOUR child. To live in a society you’re also responsible for other people. Just cuz your kid is healthy doesn’t mean the kid next to them isn’t immunocompromised.

Measles vaccine mediated immunity falls short from protecting the body with absolute (lifelong) immunity from the virus, only natural immunity can do this. Vaccines also fall short on preventing reinfection with the same organism. Natural immunity will always trump vaccinated immunity.

… and so the system does that. It affects us. Then our body builds antibodies. And we don’t end up getting the antibodies by also adding foreign material that doesn’t belong in a growing infants body! Why IS THAT so hard to understand and accept?

If a child who’s unvaccinated passes from an illness that was preventable, the parents 100% should be charged with some criminal charge

I feel like till 18 vaccines should be mandatory (unless there is a legitimate medical condition such as an allergy or compromised immune system)

I was sick a ton growing up and had all of my vaccines. Anecdotal evidence could’ve said the vaccines didn’t work or made me sicker. At 29 I found out I was living with an IGA deficiency my entire life. I would’ve been so much sicker without vaccine support.

is measles lethal no? sanitation and nutrtion decreases mortality 98 percent before vaccine came out. this is like saying we need vaccine for the cold. it all depends on risk benefit

Not against giving kids the Measles, Mumps Rubella shot. I’m against giving the 3 in a single visit. They should be spanned out.

Yes!!! This is how I explained vaccines to my son. I wasn’t vaccinated growing up and I was actually very sick as a child. I lost a significant amount of my hearing to measles and was hospitalized for pneumonia after my measles infection.
