@chrisrestores: The Bureau of Mines opened the largest helium production facility in the world in Amarillo, Texas #texas #History #abandoned #research #lab
people have no idea how scarce helium is here.
yes, helium can be man-made but not on a large scale.

Chris :
The Don Harrington Discovery Musuem in Amarillo has giant helium element model outside of it and they used to have some cool exhibits on the inside about helium.

this pissed me off honestly. the local airsoft field was actively trying to buy this property to turn it into a military style airsoft field, and all the sudden someone else came with a little more money than they had and stole it. that plant has been abandoned for a long time, all the sudden someone was interested in it and baam someone bought it from under them.

Can’t wait to see what my family does with this place! I’m hoping my plumbing company gets the bids I’d love to work on history like that.

And I was taught by the guy that was responsible for keeping things running in that place until it shut down. Smartest man I've ever met.

On your way home you should do the Jackrabbit sign in Odessa. I know that’s probably out of your way but a cool little one with the statue.

This is so cool to see! My grandpa worked at the Amarillo Helium Plant and retired from there. My dad actually grew up living at the camp on the property until he was a teenager, when the family moved to Dumas. So much of our family history is tied to this place. ❤️I love seeing it again!

Austin :
Yeah, it’s kind of weird how much of a limited supply we have but then there’s only really two ways to make helium and that’s a nuclear fusion or decay of nuclear material
