I’m a paramedic, not a police officer, but the amount of times that I’ve been biten on calls is ridiculous. I don’t ever want anyone to lose their pets, but people also need to learn to control their animals. My life shouldn’t be danger coming to your call because you’re a bad pet owner.

You guys are completely off base on this. There are lots of dogs that are dangerous to 1st responders and there is no reason to suffer an attack by a dog while doing your duty. Dog owners need to show some accountability.

I saw a cop shoot a dog about 7 years ago. It was a car crash all the occupants were hurt, including a dog. It was really hurt, like broken back hurt. The cop carried it to the side of the road and cried as he shot it.

Yet if I shot a k-9 I’d be gunned down instantly then if I somehow survive be charged with killing an officer. Shouldn’t it just be property damage?

I’m a zookeeper working with dangerous animals (big cats, primates, etc.) and fire extinguishers and air horns are very non-lethal effective options, ones we are trained to use if needed! Glad to see it being used before last resort of euthanizing if absolutely necessary.

Guys, I really respect what you do, but let’s look at the real issue here. There are a lot of really crappy dog owners and dogs are usually only crappy when humans are crappy. We make a huge business out of buying and selling and breeding dogs and some people just don’t even take care of them and they abuse them and they turned them into bad dogs. As a result, there are a lot of bad dogs. As sad as it is, this has become the reality, but we need to start addressing the actual source. The cops might be wrong sometimes, but I don’t think they started this whole thing.

hot take but I hate that dogs made out to be gentle creature. They aren’t, a dog attacked can permanently disfigure or kill you. It isn’t reasonable to expect others, cops or not to go out of their way to get your dog away without harming it. Keep your dogs secure. Period

Look I enjoy watching your takes and legal breakdowns, most of the time I agree, but you have to do better. Approach objectively and from an unbiased view. It’s clear you didn’t want to break down how often those shootings are justified because you didn’t want to admit that virtually all are. It may shock you that police officers are people too and the many love pets just as much if not more than you do. Do better
