Yeah. Not taking your children to their yearly physicals and biannual dental exams should be charged with negligence. Nothing will ever change my mind with that. If you can’t afford it, you can be on state insurance and if you have any insurance, preventative care is covered by insurance. And if that’s still not an option, you can research and find free community check ups for kids, both medical and dental.

On my neurology rotation at the moment and seeing tons of patients who wouldn’t have their current medical condition if they had preventive care 10, 20, 30 years ago. It’s a tragedy.

Preventative care is the reason my mom’s breasts cancer was caught early enough for her to only need a lumpectomy with chemo and radiation. She’s had no evidence of disease since though it’s only year two now. No family history that would have led her to check. Mammograms save lives and I may not enjoy the process but I’m certainly getting one every year.

I love our check ups! I like my kids to be able to talk to their doctor and build that relationship during those appointments. We don’t just want to see them when they’re sick so wellness visits are a great time to stop in and say hi 👋🏻

ya!!! didn’t angelina jolie do preventative care and found out she had like an 80% chance of breast cancer and that’s why she got her boobs replaced

I love my primary care doctor! I see her once a year and can message her anytime I’m having an issue. I’d rather she catch something as soon as possible!

#notascam I diagnosed aplastic anemia in a kid who presented for sports physical. Scoliosis is frequently missed by parents. Missing testicle which could have turned into cancer. So many stories.

I’ve diagnosed some kind of cancer several times during a wellness visit, found many scoliosis, type 1 and 2 diabetes, thyroid disease, kids who need to see the dentist and the eye doctor and even a teen with only one testical that no one noticed.
