I had something similar happen at a non-union company. The new company bought my old company out and told all of us we still had jobs during the transition. and if we wanted to continue afterwards with the new company, we basically had to reapply and pass their hiring process. And if you didn't want to go with the new company, they paid you out of severance.

the language in their contract must have been weak. it should say, if sold, new company can't release anyone to go non union. you are buying a union company, it must stay union

Not a new contract….NO contract. The Union has to try and negotiate contracts for all 350+ Teamsters.

So like this isn’t against the law? I was under the impression that, that if a new company bought the company, they bought the contract. Isn’t there something the union lawyers can do about this. This just does not sound right.

if the company was doing well and valued the employees why did they sell? isn't the point of being in business to make money not friends?
