@oasis.app: We sent tampons from major brands to an ISO 17025 accredited lab for a heavy metals screen (ICP-MS, AOAC 2015.01). Two results stood out: Kotex Click - 0.141 ppm lead, tied for the highest result of every tampon we tested Tampax Pearl - 0.141 ppm lead, identical to Kotex down to the third decimal For scale: the lowest quantified result in our test was 0.009 ppm lead, roughly 15x lower. And for context, a 2024 study in Environment International found measurable lead in all 30 tampons tested, so these two brands are not outliers in containing lead — the finding is that two competing products landed at the top of our screen with identical numbers. These are trace-level amounts, and no study has established that lead at these concentrations in tampons causes clinical harm. Health agencies recognize no safe level of lead exposure, and vaginal tissue is highly absorptive, which is why researchers flag this exposure route specifically. Full lab reports for both brands, plus every other tampon we tested, are in the Oasis app
