@keith50754: THE VERSION OF YOU THAT SURVIVED Maybe the hardest thing Jesus asks us to surrender isn’t control. Maybe it’s the version of ourselves we built just to survive. The walls we built because somebody hurt us. The distance we created because trusting people became dangerous. The anger that became easier than admitting we were hurting. The independence that convinced us we didn’t need anyone. The hardened heart that once belonged to a much softer version of us. And the truth is… that version of you wasn’t weak. It protected you when you didn’t know how else to protect yourself. But eventually, what once protected you can become what prevents you from being loved, known, and truly free. Jesus doesn’t ask us to surrender those things because He condemns who we became. He asks us to surrender them because He knows who we can become. Maybe healing isn’t becoming the person you were before the pain. Maybe it’s becoming someone who no longer has to live like the pain is still happening.
