The show ruined EVERYTHING about that family. It was never supposed to be Rhaenyra vs Alicent, it was always Rhaenyra vs Aegon. The heir against the usurper. They never even gave us proper scenes of ANY of the siblings interacting (except for Alicent’s kids ofc).

i think people forget that rhaenyra acted as any other male claimant would’ve done because she genuinely believed the throne was hers by right not because of a prophecy. especially in a world which as asiof where oaths are supppsed to be taken seriously, she sees people breaking their oaths as a serious offense and as treason. the thing is rhaenyra was limited and that’s where the nuance of her being a woman comes in. because she never had sword/war training and she delayed her response to the aegons coronation because she had to give birth. there also is the added layer of her bastard children being seen as abhorrent to society compared to her male counterparts. the legitimacy of rhaenyras sons is more debatable in the books but the fact that a woman has bastard children being seen as a moral failure rather than a silly mistake on a drunken night is another thing that sets her apart from her brothers and the men in her family. and the death of rhaenyra when she is cut on the chest and that being one of the last things done to her is there to remind her that she is a woman and she will die as a fragile woman and not as a monarch. rhaenyra wasn’t a feminist nor was she trying to be a a pioneer for change. she was a woman who was promised a throne who lashed back when it was stolen from her and it’s that simple
