@sadierose.edit: If I were building you a simple anti-aging skincare routine right now, this is where I’d start. You do NOT need an expensive or complicated routine. These are some products I’d personally recommend at different price points. I put everything in my ShopMy linked in my bio — there’s a SAVE shelf and a SPLURGE shelf so they’re easy to find. AM ROUTINE 1. GENTLE CLEANSER SAVE: CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser SPLURGE: SkinCeuticals Gentle Cleanser 2. VITAMIN C SAVE: Timeless 20% Vitamin C + E Ferulic Acid Serum SPLURGE: SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic 3. MOISTURIZER + SPF SAVE: Naturium Dew-Glow Moisturizer SPF 50 SPLURGE: EltaMD UV Daily Hydration+ SPF 50 Both give you hydration + SPF in one step. If you need more moisture, layer a moisturizer underneath. PM ROUTINE 1. CLEANSE SAVE: CeraVe Hydrating Cream-to-Foam Cleanser SPLURGE: Skinfix Gentle Gel Ceramide + Ectoin Cleanser Both are great for removing makeup and sunscreen while still being gentle. 2. RETINOID OTC/BEGINNER: CeraVe Skin Renewing Retinol Serum PRESCRIPTION: Tretinoin 3. MOISTURIZER SAVE: CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream SPLURGE: SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2 WANT TO ADD MORE? One additional product I personally love is The Ordinary GF 15% Solution, a growth factor serum. **Add it to your night routine only as it does not mix with vitamin c. Cleanse → Growth Factor Serum → Retinoid → Moisturizer Let the growth factor serum absorb and make sure your skin is completely dry before applying your retinoid. Applying a retinoid to damp skin can increase penetration and irritation. NEW TO RETINOIDS? START LOW + SLOW Consider patch testing first. Weeks 1–2: Start around 2 nights per week. Weeks 3–4: If tolerated well, increase to around 3 nights per week. After that: Gradually increase as tolerated. You may eventually use it every other night or nightly, but you don’t HAVE to use a retinoid nightly to benefit. If using prescription tretinoin, follow your prescriber’s directions. SENSITIVE? TRY THE SANDWICH METHOD Cleanse → Growth Factor Serum (optional) → let skin dry completely → thin layer of moisturizer → pea-sized amount of retinoid → moisturizer Use approximately a pea-sized amount for your entire face. Avoid your eyelids, lips and creases around your nose. A FEW BEGINNER RULES Wear SPF 30+ every morning. Keep the rest of your routine gentle while your skin adjusts. Initially, avoid exfoliating acids like glycolic, lactic or salicylic acid while your skin adjusts to your retinoid. Some mild dryness or flaking can happen. Significant burning, swelling, persistent redness or a rash is a sign to stop and reassess. FACIAL WAXING + SKIN TREATMENTS Always tell your esthetician, dermatologist or anyone treating your skin that you use a retinoid. Retinoids may need to be discontinued before facial waxing and certain lasers, chemical peels or microneedling. Timing varies by retinoid and procedure, so ask your prescriber and treatment provider when to stop and restart. Do not wax skin being treated with a retinoid. Growth factors and exfoliation are extras. Start with the foundation, get consistent, then add more based on your skin and your goals. #affordableskincare #skincareroutine #easyskincareroutines #simpleskincare #skincare
