@drmararivera: Repro Psych 101, Episode 3. Two different conditions can produce a similar premenstrual mood change, and they are managed differently. In premenstrual dysphoric disorder, symptoms such as irritability, low mood, and feeling overwhelmed are confined to the luteal phase and then resolve within a few days of menstruation starting, leaving a symptom-free interval in the first half of the cycle. In premenstrual exacerbation, an existing condition such as depression, an anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, or ADHD becomes worse premenstrually but does not fully resolve, so there is no symptom-free window. So validating! My mental health always nosedives before my period, it's so hard. 💛 My Endora app helps me track symptoms daily, especially my mood, to see the patterns. 🫶💝💝
