He’s right, your A/C unit isn’t an air purifier. If you have bad allergies or pets buy a stand alone air purifier.

I had an air conditioning repair man who wore overalls, had a cigarette almost permanently stuck (hands free) to his lips, and a truck that smoked more than he did tell me the cheap filters are the best, and I believed him.

side note... if you have multiple dogs like me. i have 6. change every 2 weeks. it makes a huge difference verses once a month.

30 years in HVAC I only use the cheap ones. It’s only to filter the air goin thru ur furnace/evap coil. If people are concerned about allergies use air purifiers.

Nah. We get less dust using the first option. Just change it out every 30 days and keep the area vacuumed and coils clean. The cheaper one gets sucked up (correct size) and way more dust flowing through the vents.
